Missed Blogging Conferences, Birthdays and Photos

This weekend was interesting.

If I had had my way, I would have been in Las Vegas attending Blogalicious.

But it was C Dub’s birthday and I spent precious time with him and Pookah instead.

I went to Blogalcious last year, and it was awesome. It was my first blog conference, so I didn’t have anything to compare it to.  But now that I have been to BlogHer AND Blogalicious, I can honestly say that I think I prefer the smaller blog conference.  BlogHer was HUGE, and I learned so much and met people that I really wanted to meet. But at Blogalicious, not only did I learn, but I felt more part of a community you know? I felt like I connected with folks. Not just took their cards and followed them on twitter.  I am actually still talk to some of the people I met there.  It’s something to think about as I start to plan out my travel schedule for next year.   Of course, this all depends on where all of the three conferences on my radar are next year.

C Dub’s birthday was great…for him. LOL. He got to have a child free morning to himself, he got to play golf, he had dinner at his favorite restaurant, he got a new golf club that he didn’t have to pay for, AND he got laid……

SMH.

I wish my birthday had been so good.

I spent the weekend attached to my camera too. Which is something that hasn’t happened in months around here. And it was good.  I actually took photos, practiced a few things I wanted to practice. Experimented. I never get to do that anymore, and I was beginning to feel like I wasn’t growing anymore. Same poses, same locations, same angles.  But this weekend I felt like I fell back in love with taking pictures around here. And that is good.

He agrees.

Well, that’s my weekend. How was yours? Did you do anything exciting? Learn anything new? Share!

They do get some great birthdays don’t they. Mine is coming up I swear if I don’t get nothing good he will just get a card until he turns 40. Glad you had a great weekend spending time with the fam.

I completely agree with you about BlogHer, when I went to fitbloggin, the conference touched my soul. I cried and laughed and cried a little more. BlogHer was ALL about brands brands brand which is great if blogging is your full time thing but I love connecting with people. Connections are for a lifetime, branding is for a minute.

I am also not sure if I will be going back to BlogHer although I have to make my mind up soon because after november 1st it goes from $200 to $400! whew! I’m definitely thinking, Fitbloggin, Bloglalicious and maybe blogging while brown.

I had a quiet weekend, watched a DIY disaster at home (blog to come today) and enjoyed the cooler temps. They do get great birthdays, but I put my request in because they just don’t think about it like we do. Great picture of Pookah.

My weekend was ok. My sister has been in the hospital since 8am saturday morning and she’s still there.

Aside from worrying about her, we had an alright time. Jas got to play with her cousins that live and hour away. Thats always a good time.

My SIL looks so cute in those pics!

I’ve fallen in love with my camera, too. I just got it back from Canon. I wanted to get an upgrade, but decided against it when I realized how much more I need to do with the one I’ve got before moving on to something else. I’m glad your weekend was productive. We didn’t do much, but I had fun.

I love that last picture! He’s such a cutie!

    • LaShawn says:

You decided not to upgrade?! I’m trying to resist until I’ve maxed out every possibility with this one! I’m going to invest in a speedlight soon, since my main issue taking photos in low light

It’s going to be my 4th year of blogging and I’ve never attended a conference. Maybe next year.

Men always have the best birthdays. It’s like they already know if nothing else they’re going to get some action.

The new camera that I have is just sitting around in the box. There’s just no time for me to tinker with it. Sigh.

This weekend was nice. All 9 of us went to Olive Garden and ran up a huge tab. The wallet is still crying.

    Hugs and Mocha,

Quiet time isn’t a bad thing. What conferences are you planning for next year? I spent my weekend working and avoiding schoolwork.

Of course, I had planned on going to Blogher. BUT I may go to blogging while brown and blogalicious too. Or instead of. I just won’t something smaller. Oh and type A is right here in Atlanta! I should really go to that one
