Wordful Wednesday: I Wish

I often lament the fact that Pookah doesn’t get to see my parents as much as we would like.  I grew up the same way, and only saw my grandparents once or twice a year. But I didn’t want that for my baby.

Pookah loves his grandaddy.

It’s amazing to see my Father with my son. My father was a busy man when I was a child. He didn’t have the time to sit and play and play and make noises and play monster like he does with my son.

And my mother….

Sometimes I think Pookah would throw me over for my mother. And frankly, I don’t blame him!  She is so patient and she has never ending energy. She will play play play and then play some more. All the while teaching him the little things that I forget in the mad rush of life.

I wish Pookah could spend more time with his Grandparents.

These photos just make me think on that.

I love the design, you are good…I didn’t see my grandmother much either and unfortunately my parents are deceased so they are missing out on grandparent time. I know we all have a busy life, but try to take Pookah to visit your parents more if you can. Congratulations on the new design.

Nice changes to the website, I like it.

As for the grandparents, we try our best to have Zee see both sides as often. Like you, I grew up not really close to either grandparents and I wanted to do things differently. It’s hard to balance everything, including visits.

My grandfather died before I was born and my grandmother died when I was very young and my parents are deceased. I’m very grateful that my son has the chance to know and experience the love his paternal grandparents. He doesn’t get to see them often because they live in NY, but they call and check on him, facetime him and visit when they can.

Loving the new look!! I think the same thing about my dad. Especially since my mother is gone I feel like they are really missing out. They are in talks to buy a home over here and live bi coastal since they are in Las Vegas way too far to drive.

  7. What a lovely post and photos! Sadly, my boys don’t have any active grandparents in their life. My father comes… close enough with visits on holidays and birthdays (he lives 20 minutes away, go figure) but that’s about it. Cherish it!

  8. I so loved this, and it’s true. The grandparent connection can be (not all the time) so enriching. He’s a lucky boy, Pookah. I only saw The Matriarch once a year. The West Indian Mother was never really patient and definitely not warm and fuzzy. Remember, when you can’t make the in-person bonding happen, the benefits of the modern age are still there, notably the telephone and Skype, a favorite of mine.

P.S. Have you watered those plants? *looks at my I-can’t-believe-it’s-still-alive fern*
